A taste of Rowntree Walk

Rowntree Park history

Sunday 28 May

Part of the #walkcyclefestival launch event

Meet 12 noon and 2pm, Rowntree Park in front of the launch party marquee (by the table tennis area)

Join Bridget from the Rowntree Society for a taste of the Rowntree Walks, all new for 2017.

We will take a short hour-long circular walk around the park and the neighbouring area to discover some of the fascinating history and landmarks left by Joseph Rowntree and his family.

After a brief history and tour of the beautiful Rowntree Park, we will walk to the little-known Bishophill Quaker Burial Ground where some of the Rowntrees are buried. We will then return to the Park along the riverside path.

At the end of the walk you can collect a free copy of the new “Five Rowntree Walks in York” so you can continue walking and cycling through Rowntree history on your own!

You can download all of the new Rowntree walks here.
