Q – I have a baby/ toddler and would like to start cycling with them around York

A – Get advice and information on best ways of travelling with tots from our friendly team on the last Saturday of the month at cake confidence at Cycle Heaven.

You can get started now with information and advice from Sustrans and Cycling UK online. And why not also join the wonderful Family Cycling UK Facebook group?

A – Try one of our #travelwithtots bikes out at cake confidence at Cycle Heaven on the last Saturday of every month. We have a range of bikes, front and back child seats, single and double trailers for you to try or borrow. Email to book your place.

A – Get some confidence training yourself or as a family, either during a cake confidence session or separately from City of York Council’s Urban Skills training team.

A – Borrow bikes and child-carrying equipment as above for 3 weeks for free as part of the cake confidence scheme (£20 deposit required). Email to book.

You can try GoGet Riding– a York-based cycle training organisation – which offers chargeable cycle training for children of all ages.

York Sport also offers cycling confidence-building one-to-one sessions for children of all ages and a variety of other cycling support activities.
