Q – I have a baby/ toddler and would like to start cycling with them around York

A – You can get started with information and advice from Sustrans and Cycling UK online. And why not also join the wonderful Family Cycling UK Facebook group?

A – Get some confidence training yourself or as a family, either during a Cake Confidence session or separately from City of York Council’s Urban Skills training team.

Q – I’d like my children to start cycling their own bikes and/ or independently

A – Teach them how to cycle yourself – there’s some great advice from Sustrans at https://www.sustrans.org.uk/what-you-can-do/children-and-families/cycling-kids/teach-your-child-ride-bike-without-stabilisers

A – City of York Council offers balance bike sessions for toddlers and Bikeability training for older children through schools – more details at  https://www.itravelyork.info/cycling/cycle-training/.

You can try GoGet Riding– a York-based cycle training organisation – which offers chargeable cycle training for children of all ages.

York Sport also offers cycling confidence-building one-to-one sessions for children of all ages and a variety of other cycling support activities.
