Margaret is a resident at the Chocolate Works Care village. She regularly attends our weekly Cycling Without Age Rides on Monday afternoons. The Rides are pedalled by our team of friendly, trained volunteers. They take residents on a variety of interesting routes, including to Rowntree Park and the Minster, along the riverside paths and around the Knavesmire.
Margaret attends the Rides as she wants to go outside in the fresh air, and to meet people outside the care home. She used to walk and cycle a lot when she was younger.
Margaret said: “The Rides are excellent! I love being outdoors in Rides in any weather. It’s lovely to see the trees and plants change through the seasons. I also enjoy finding out about the local area from the volunteer Pedallers and other passengers.”
One of the Wellbeing Team at the Care Village recently said: “Without exception, our residents are noticeably happier when they come back from the Rides.”
