“I always feel happier afterwards!”

Anna regularly joins our Nature Walks and Rides. She has been part of wildflower, tree, birdsong walks and a ride to Askham Bog Nature Reserve.

Anna said: “I was very pleased to discover the YBB activities because they are local and I didn’t need a car to get to the location as is usually the case. I already knew that I liked walking and cycling so the real motivation for me was to meet new people, have a nice activity to look forward to and also to learn something new.

I always feel happier after the activities because they are very social and informative and it is a great pleasure to be with people who share the same interests.

Since participating in the nature activities, I have definitely taken more notice of the nature around me and have tried to identify certain trees and flowers on my walks, as well as birdsong (sometimes I can!).

I also feel more confident in knowing a bit more about the local environment and it makes me feel more connected to it.”

Anna talks about her experiences in a couple of short videos – a wildflower walk along the riverside and a bike ride to Askham Bog Nature Reserve. Have a watch!
