Be refreshed by colour on a ride out to Askham Bryan
The charming village of Askham Bryan is a surprisingly short, and delightful, local ride out from the south or west of the city.
If you head that way for your daily exercise, soak up the fresh greens, whites, and pinks that are starting to paint a wave of spring colour across the countryside.

From the south of the city, ride down Sustrans’ Route 65 towards Bishopthorpe, turn right down the walk/cycle route past Knavesmire Wood, go through the estate, and out onto Taddy Road. Go straight across at the Tesco roundabout, and along Moor Lane until the houses finish. There’s a cycle path on the pavement on the right. Follow this as it wiggles across the ring roads and you’ll emerge onto Askham Bryan Lane leading to the village.
