“My favourite part was being guided to pause by the river and feel the cool breeze on my face. It was the first time in months my mind shut down.” (Gabi, participant)
Autumn 2021
Nature Time Walks and Rides
Experience the delights of nature nearby this autumn!
Join an inspiring nature experience with us in and around York. You’ll connect with and learn more about nature, meet new friends, and enjoy some gentle exercise in the fresh air.
We usually head out on Sunday afternoons, around 2pm. The walks and rides are a short distance. We move at an easy pace, with plenty of time to notice, enjoy and talk about the natural world around us, and with breaks as desired. Please allow up to two hours in total.
Nature Time Ride
Sunday 19th September – Ride out to explore the Magic of Moorlands – Fully Booked!

Join us to explore the Magic of Moorlands Nature Reserve – we’ll meet new friends and enjoy the freshness and changing colours of the start of autumn together.
We’ll ride out north of the city along the lovely riverside Greenway to Skelton, then along country lanes to the Nature Reserve. We’ll park up and take a stroll around this most magical spot – with its splendid wooded life, ponds, and sculpture trail – and perhaps sit and chat on the toadstools together. 😊
Come along!
Nature Time Walk
Sunday 17th October – Walk into a sensory Autumn world at York Cemetery – Fully Booked!

Join us for an inspiring new nature experience! You’ll enjoy connecting to the beauty of the Autumn world in the company of friends.
We’ll stroll alongside the riverside on New Walk and then around York Cemetery – a glorious wild space for both people and nature. As we walk, we’ll experience the Cemetery’s Autumn world with all our senses, and share stories about the trees, plants and wildlife we meet there.
Everyone welcome!
Nature Time Walk
Sunday 14th November – Feel uplifted by Autumn on a walk through York’s City Gardens – Fully Booked!

Join us for an inspiring new nature experience! You’ll enjoy feeling uplifted by the delights of autumn on this sociable stroll.
What’s your favourite part of autumn? Is it feeling uplifted by the vibrant colour of autumn leaves as they change to yellow, orange and red? Is it the refreshing feeling of cool autumn breezes on your face? The satisfying crunch, crunch, crunch of walking through fallen leaves and seeds? The chatter of busy squirrels in trees and undergrowth? Or the colourful showers of leaves tumbling around you as you walk?
We’ll experience all of this (and more!) on our final Nature Walk of this year, as we stroll through the splendid setting of the Memorial and Museum Gardens, in the heart of York.
Everyone welcome. Come along!
If you can’t make the activities or they are booked up, we’ll be creating a new Nature Time Route for each, so that you can enjoy them in your own time. Do have a look at our existing Nature Time Routes pages.
