Walk or ride with us and experience the delights of nature nearby!
Join a fun outing with us! You’ll feel well, be inspired, learn more about nature close to you, and enjoy some exercise in the fresh air. All in good company 🙂
We’ll usually head out on Sunday afternoons, around 2pm. The walks and rides will be a short distance. We’ll move at an easy pace, with plenty of time to enjoy and talk about the natural world around us. Allow up to two hours in total.
Sunday 16 May Walk – Meet the remarkable Knavesmire trees
The Knavesmire is one of the oldest, undeveloped green spaces in the city, and it’s edges are dotted with the most remarkable ancient trees – a Giant Cedar, an Elder Oak and the Queen Beech of Knavesmire Wood, and others. Come along and introduce yourself, find out more about them, and perhaps enjoy a tree hug or two!
Sunday 20 June Ride/ Walk – Tune in to a Woodland Dusk Chorus at the Summer Solstice
Sunday 18 July Walk – Discover the beauty of Summer Wildflowers along the Riverside
Let us know if you need extra support in any way, and we’ll buddy you up with one of our friendly team during the walk or ride.
Group numbers are currently limited to six. Precise dates will be announced on Facebook nearer the time, depending what the natural world is doing. Please email email@example.com to book a place once the date has been announced.
Check the weather forecast beforehand and wear suitable clothing. Please do not attend if you are unwell. Bring any personal medication and, ideally, hand sanitiser and a face covering in case they are needed. For a walk, wear walk and mud-friendly shoes. For a ride, bring a roadworthy bike, spare inner tube and working lights.
We try to make all our walks and rides accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Please get in touch if necessary, and we’ll do our best to meet your needs. Start points are easily accessible by bus or bike. We ask that you travel to the activity by sustainable transport if you can.
We will be observing the current Covid-19 government precautions. We trust that you will do the same.
Finally, this is a volunteer-led, unfunded programme, offered free to York residents. We rely on donations and grants to fund our work towards a healthy, green and kind York. Donate here.
