Have you ever felt that you’d love to cycle more often – to work, to the shops, in your free time – but didn’t know the best routes?
Or wanted to come on one of our cycling events, but were a little nervous as you didn’t know anyone?
In 2017, we have a new Cycle Friend bike buddy scheme, thanks to the Big Lottery fund. We will match you up with a local experienced cyclist who will offer a free and friendly, helping hand on your cycling journey.
Fiona had never cycled to work at the University of York before as the route involved a very busy road. Clare, one of our cycle friends, found a good, quiet route, met with Fiona and cycled her route to work with her.
Joanne was looking for tips on how to get about on her bike. Alison, another cycle friend, met with Joanne to show her some of the best routes around town , including a couple of lovely bike rides and cake and cake stops to Beningborough Hall!
Jill was nervous about coming on a social ride as she hadn’t cycled for a while and was worried she would keep up. Cycle friend Helena cycled with Jill for most of the ride giving her some cycling tips as the ride went along and making sure the pace was right for her.
